Late afternoon on your third day, you’ll pick up your hire car and get ready for your road trip.

Today you will travel to Crater Lake National Park, home to stunning Crater Lake. Formed by a volcanic eruption and the collapse of the volcano, the lake is one of the deepest in the world and is famous for its deep blue colour and water clarity.

Stretching along the south bank of the winding Coquille River where it flows into the Pacific Ocean, Bandon is known as one of the top producers of cranberries in the country. As you head north to Portland, be sure to stop by Willamette Valley, Oregon’s Wine Country. It is home to over 300 wineries so there is no shortage of options. Upon arrival into Portland, take some time to discover the International Test Rose Garden and Washington Park, or take a tour of Pittock Mansion to hear the fascinating story of Henry Pittock - the newspaper and business magnate. Try breakfast at Jam on Hawthorne or its sister location Cricket Café for a sumptuous start to the day.

Enclosed by the Pacific Ocean to the west and the vast forests of Olympic National Park to the east, the Portland peninsula of Olympic National Park is simply wonderful. The Sol Duc, Bogachiel and North Fork Calawah Rivers offer outstanding and beautiful hikes to glorious waterfalls, lush rainforests and wildlife experiences.

En route to your overnight destination of Port Townsend, have a picnic at scenic Bogachiel State Park. Continue to Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula, which is known for its beautiful Victorian architecture and local hospitality. Make sure you arrive in time to enjoy a stroll around the city.

On your journey back to Seattle, why not pay a visit to the Museum of Flight or the Boeing Future of Flight Museum conveniently located on your route to the airport? Afterwards, return your rental car before departing Seattle for your homebound flight.
