Upon arrival make your way to your hotel either by uber or taxi and spend the rest of the day exploring the city.

Boston is the largest city in New England and one of the oldest in the United States. Steeped in history from the American Revolution, you can explore the Freedom Trail, taking you past some of the city's historic landmarks including Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere's home, the Old North Church and the USS Constitution in Boston Harbour.

Be sure to enjoy a walk around Boston Common - an oasis in the city centre. No trip to Boston is complete without a visit to one of the pubs. We recommend the Solas Irish Bar at the Lenox Hotel, which offers excellent pub dining and a fine array of drinks including Guinness.

After collecting your hire car from downtown Boston, head north to the town of Kennebunkport. Along the route you will find areas steeped in history as well as some of the east coast's finest beaches. The first recommended stop is Salem, the infamous home of the Salem Witch trials.

The drive along the coast takes you through the charming harbour towns of Gloucester and Rockport before finishing at Kennebunkport - a haven for writers and artists and home to some of the finest New England Clam Chowder. Whilst in Kennebunkport be sure to visit Goose Rocks Beach, Parson’s Way and President Bush Compound.

Today’s drive takes you from the Maine coastline inland towards the spectacular scenery of the White Mountains of New Hampshire. You will find the landscapes dotted with charming historic villages and enchanting covered bridges. En route, why not stop in the town of North Conway for some excellent outlet shopping? Explore the White Mountain National Forest and travel to the summit of New Hampshire’s highest mountain, Mount Washington (toll road).

Today, cross the White Mountains that divide New Hampshire and Vermont. The drive will take you through some of New England's most beautiful scenery and past quaint villages and attractive covered bridges.

Whilst in Stowe, take a brewery tour of the von Trapp Brewery located at the Trapp Family Lodge (reservations required). For the adventurous, take a hike on the Stowe Recreation Path, visit Moss Glen Falls and Smugglers Notch State Park.

Continue your journey south along Route 100, where you will find some of the most spectacular scenery in the Green Mountains. The dense forests landscapes of the mountains are home to bears, moose, wild turkey, and deer. The route takes you through picture-perfect villages and past some of Vermont's famous covered bridges before taking you into the Berkshires, known for their beauty, for your overnight stay.

Enjoy a relaxing drive today as you continue your journey into New England’s smallest state, Rhode Island. Break your journey in the State Capital, Providence, and see the majestic Rhode Island State House before continuing to your destination, Newport. The yacht filled harbour here is famous for hosting the America’s Cup for many years between 1930 and 1983. Whilst in the city, do the Cliff Walk and Ocean Drive, visit Fort Adams State Park and take a self-guided or guided 75-minute tour and, if tennis is your chosen sport, visit the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Today involves a short drive down to the town of Falmouth located on magnificent Cape Cod. Explore the peninsula with its high cliffs, rolling dunes, wide beaches, picturesque towns and villages, and delicious seafood. Why not take a ferry from nearby Woods Hole to Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard? Passenger only reservations are not required, however if taking a vehicle, reservations are mandatory. For some last-minute retail therapy, the Cape Cod Mall is a short drive away in Hyannis.

On your drive back to Boston, stop in Plymouth, a living panorama of Pilgrim and Colonial times and see the Mayflower II. Now it’s time to say farewell to New England, as you drop your car off and ready yourself for your flight home. Bon voyage.
