At American Affair we can offer a wide range of America motorhome holidays where the only restriction is your imagination! Perhaps you prefer to book the motorhome rental on its own and make your own adventure, or you want us to create a be-spoke itinerary with campgrounds and an expert roadbook all included. Our team of American experts can tailor-make a motorhome package that’s based around your specific requirements.

What you need for a motorhome holiday

There are many options and extras when it comes to renting a motorhome and our team of experts are on hand to talk you through them. Then, we can discuss what liability option is best for you, what mileage package you should book, and whether a one-way or round-trip rental works best for your America holiday. When you pick up the motorhome you will need your driving licence, passport and credit card, and after a quick orientation you are good to go! Just note that you can’t park your motorhome for the night just anywhere and will need to stay in designated campgrounds, so it’s good to have an idea of where you want to go.

Your motorhome specs

All our motorhomes in America have air conditioning, power steering, automatic transmission and cruise control for an easy drive. Your facilities onboard will vary depending on the size of the motorhome you choose. However, all include a kitchen stove, microwave and fridge; a bathroom with a flush toilet and shower; and a hot water heater. All these great facilities mean you can explore Canada at your own pace and in complete comfort.

Extra costs to budget for

There is also a security deposit which is paid by credit card and is refunded after you return your motorhome. There will also be a vehicle preparation fee from £76 per booking. Convenience kits cost £76 pp and include things like bedding, cookware, and utensils. Extras like camping chairs, bike racks, child seats, and sat navs can be rented. Don't forget - your camping fees need to be paid directly to the campgrounds.

El Monte

El Monte has a big range of motorhomes in all different sizes. The smallest RVs sleep two people and are not much bigger than a normal car. The Van Conversion is the size of a people carrier, and the Truck Conversion has a truck body with a cab over the roof. These can be a great option if you'd prefer to drive a smaller vehicle. On the other end of the scale, the largest RV sleeps 6 with room to spare.

Cruise America

Cruise America operates the largest fleet of motorhomes in North America. Their clear and concise range of three different motorhomes keeps things simple while offering the optimum comfort to suit your group. Choose from compact, standard or large motorhomes sleeping from 3 to 7 people. Each RV is fully equipped with all the practical amenities you need for RV holidays in America.

Campsites

As each day ends you will need to stay at a designated campsite; you can’t park up just anywhere in the US. There’s a wealth of campsites in America, though the popularity of American motorhome holidays means we like to give you a helping hand and use our specialist contacts. We can book campsites matching the style and amenities to suit all budgets, whilst providing the best available and we will also plan your trip as a bespoke motorhome holiday, no low bridges! If you prefer to book campsites yourself our America experts will be happy to offer advice and help you book them.

The campgrounds in America are excellent. Many of them include a fire pit at each pitch, so make sure you bring some marshmallows for toasting! You'll usually be able to buy firewood bundles somewhere on-site. One thing to remember is that thanks to the beautiful wild locations of the campsites, especially in the likes of the Rockies, bears are sometimes a risk. Read up on bear safety and pay attention to warning notices. You may need to keep food in bear-proof lockers provided on-site.

Taking your time

Don't be too ambitious with your driving times and distances. Sometimes, the driving distances in America can be further than you think. Also motorhomes aren't the fastest of vehicles so allow plenty of time for each leg of your journey to make lots of stops and enjoy America at your own pace. There are so many incredible views and attractions that you'll be pulling over a lot during your motorhome holiday in America!
